About 23,000 Nebraskans will receive a ballot in their mailboxes after the vote-by-mail option starts Monday.
And more than 1.1 million others have registered to vote — 30,000 more than were registered at the time of the 2016 primary election.
"Your ballot is waiting for you," said Secretary of State John Gale. "Go cast it."
For those who are not yet registered to vote but want to have a say in their party's nominees for governor, U.S. representative or a host of other offices — there's still time.
Here are some voting dates to know ahead of the May 15 primary:
» Monday is also the first day to pick up a ballot at county election commissions across the state. And April 16, one week from Monday, is the first day to vote in person at the election commission.
» May 4 is the deadline to register to vote in person at your county election office. April 30 is the last day to register online and the last day to register through the DMV or at state agencies or departments. Mailed in registrations must also be postmarked by this date. » May 4 is also the last day that someone can request that an early voting ballot be mailed to them. To request a vote-by-mail ballot, download the form at sos.ne.gov/elec/ele_forms.html. It must be mailed to your county election commission or dropped off at the commission or in the office's drop box.
