Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office shot one person early Sunday after officials said the person fired at them.
Capt. Steve Glandt of the Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to 1415 S. 240th St. before 5 a.m. because it was reported that a man armed with a baseball bat was assaulting his parents.
As deputies were in route, Glandt said they were told it was a possible hostage situation with the suspect armed with a gun. When the deputies arrived, they saw the suspect outside the home with a shotgun.
Glandt said the man fired a shot at deputies, hitting a cruiser, and a deputy was hit with shotgun pellets. The deputies returned fire and hit the suspect. He was transported to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy, and Glandt said he was in stable condition.
The deputy had minor injuries.
Officials are not releasing the names of the deputy or suspect.
