Two major COVID-19 outbreaks linked to a pair of Metro summer day camps are under investigation.
According to the Douglas County Health Department, there are 69 confirmed cases among kids and staff.
The camps have not been identified.
One, for kids from first through fifth grade, has 49 cases.
The second, an overnight camp for students from 6th grade through high school, accounts for the other 20 cases.
Officials tell us the younger students were not old enough to be vaccinated and as masks were not required, most were not wearing masks.
The Delta variant is confirmed in 12 of the 69 cases.
The health department has been recommending masks be worn in public.
