COUNCIL BLUFFS — Two men were arrested Thursday in connection with the stabbing death of another man at a Bluffs homeless shelter.
Vance Good, 46, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Lee Johnson, police said. Brandon Hollis, 32, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to a felony. Police said the slaying occurred before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, when officers were called to the Joshua House, 1435 N. 15th St. Police said Johnson, who was found dead outside the building, had multiple, deep cuts to his face and neck.
Staff at the shelter directed police to Good and Hollis, who both still were inside the facility. A preliminary investigation determined that Good and Johnson had been in a fight. Police said Good used a sharp cutting instrument to fatally wound Johnson. Good and Hollis then allegedly carried Johnson's body out of the shelter and left it in the parking lot.
Neither Good nor Hollis attempted any life-saving measures, nor did they contact anyone to provide emergency medical assistance, police said.
The Joshua House is a 24‐hour men’s emergency homeless shelter. Johnson, Good and Hollis all were signed into the facility to spend the night, police said.
