Cornhusker State Games registration wrapping up for most sports

LINCOLN, Neb. -- An annual event is closing registration for many participants today.

Monday is the final deadline to register for most sports in the 37th annual Cornhusker State Games.

More than 7,000 athletes are already registered for the games, most of which take place July 16-25 in Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney, Columbus and other communities.

Competition is offered in 70 sports for athletes of all ages and abilities.

Opening ceremonies are set for Friday, July 16th, featuring the parade of athletes, skydivers, fireworks, mascots, a retriever dog demo, and cauldron-lighting by former Husker and Major Leaguer Alex Gordon.
