Cody Park Pool preps for opening

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – As Americans look forward to travel this summer, local pools are getting ready for the season.

Head lifeguards at Cody Park Pool have been prepping, scraping and painting the pool for the past two weeks. It’s the first time the public outdoor will reopen since pandemic.

While lifeguards say this year was extra work, they’re excited to get back to work.

“Safety wise with COVID, no masks will be required, but there will still be maybe some distancing, maybe some stuff that people can do on their own to take safety precautions, but we don’t have a lot of safety precautions for COVID in place,” said Montana Heffernan, head guard for Cody Park Pool. “Obviously if you are sick don’t come no matter what you are sick with, but other than that, we are pretty much open for business. it will be business as usual.”

The pool is tentatively scheduled to open on Memorial Day, but it all depends on weather. Otherwise, it will open on June 1.
