City of Fairbury Issues Outdoor Water Usage Regulations Due To High Demand

FAIRBURY - The City of Fairbury has determined that there was no leak in the water main yesterday and that the issues yesterday morning was a result of supply and demand, likely due to a large amount of residential irrigation.   The City's water tower is back to full capacity.   However, with the high temperatures and lack of precipitation, the mayor is requesting water to be regulated.   Addresses ending in even numbers should limit outdoor water usage including watering lawns, washing vehicles to even calendar days.  Likewise addresses ending in odd numbers would limit to odd calendar days.   City Administrator Mary Renn said that a similar code has been implemented in other towns across the state.  The situation will be reviewed by staff on a regular basis and the request will remain in effect until further notice.
