A man who asked narcotics officers in Lincoln what they were doing and who they were was arrested Wednesday after the officers recognized him as someone being sought by police.
The 41-year-old man and a 20-year-old passenger in his car were arrested around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday near North 58th Street and Morrill Avenue, Lincoln police said Thursday.
After the 41-year-old quizzed the Lincoln-Lancaster County narcotics task force members, the officers identified themselves, told the man that he was under arrest because of an outstanding warrant and ordered him out of his vehicle.
The man drove away at a high rate of speed, crashing a block away at Touzalin and Logan Avenues, police said. The vehicle also struck and damaged an electrical pole.
Officers freed the man and his passenger from the vehicle, police said.
The older man was arrested on a parole violation, police said. Other charges were pending against him.
The younger man, who was being sought on an outstanding felony warrant, had a pair of brass knuckles, police said. He was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of possession of a deadly weapon.
