Chappell hosting cruise nights in April and May

CHAPPELL, NE — A community in the Panhandle enjoying Friday nights together with a little cruise down main street.

“Our little town is amazing and people have supported it so unbelievably well,” Chappell resident Vanessa Klingman said.

Klingman says the town held cruises in March and April last to give people a safe way to have fun at the start of the pandemic. It also encouraged people to support local businesses when they were struggling.

“A lot of people were stuck at home or were working from home and we noticed people weren’t going out as much,” Klingman said.

The cruises were such a success in 2020 that the city decided to bring them back in 2021. Every Friday night in April and May, Highway 30 in Chappell will be buzzing with people out to have a good time.

“[The goal] is just to have fun,” Klingman said. “Just good, clean, family fun on a Friday night. We’d love to have main street packed and people lined up and down the street just having a good time.”

The cruises last from 6:00-7:00 p.m. All are welcome to join, whether they want to stop downtown to shop, drive around town with friends or to show off their hot rod.
