The Chadron City Council meets in special session today at 4:00 in City Hall talk discuss what to do next in the aftermath of Scott Meszaros of Seward, AK, its choice to city manager withdrawing his name
Meszaros told the city he “no longer wishes to be considered” after the failure of contract negotiations with a committee made up of council members Cheryl Welch and Keith Crofutt, City Clerk Donna Rust, and HR Director Bev Bartlet.
The council has basically 2 options: offer the position to one of the other 2 finalists or start the search process over with a new pool of applicants. Meszaros had been the council’s unanimous choice.
Councilman Miles Bannan was in the initial pool of applicants and recused himself from participating in the city manager selection process. It’s not known if he’ll take part in today’s discussions..
The meeting will be carried on Great Plains Cable Channel 19 and streamed on the city website.
