Chadron authorities investigating death of 27-year-old man

CHADRON, Neb. — Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug says the unattended death Friday morning of a Chadron man was likely not the result of foul play, but that the investigation into the actual cause of death is continuing.

A family member found 27-year old Dylan Shoemaker unresponsive in his apartment about 9:30 AM and called for emergency help.

Haug says the preliminary investigation of the scene and witness interviews gave no indication of foul play, but he’s ordered an autopsy and toxicological screenings to help determine the cause of death.

Haug’s also asking anyone who has information about Shoemaker’s activity in the days leading up to his death to contact the Chadron Police Department as they work to fill in the pieces.
