Break in temperatures expected, for final days of the Gage County Fair and Expo

BEATRICE - The Gage County Fair and Expo is set to move into its weekend of activities.

Friday is Beef Show day, for Open Class, Four-H and FFA.  Gage County Fair Board Treasurer Lisa Wiegand says the youth put in a lot of work preparing their animals for show time. Because of the heat this week, most of the foot traffic viewing exhibits at the fair has taken place later in the afternoon or the evening.

Fair officials will be getting a temperature break for the weekend, with daytime highs expected to be ten to fifteen degrees lower than for the first three days of the fair. Wiegand says people are happy to be back after Covid restrictions did not allow for a full fair and expo last year.

Big attendance is expected for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night entertainment, starting with Beatrice Speedway Friday night races….where nearly $500 extra purse money for each class has been donated. Saturday night is the Eve of Destruction, which was expected to be sold out by noon Friday. There is expected to be additional tickets for the pit area.

Sunday night it’s a Monster Truck feature at the Speedway....where walk-up tickets will be sold for the event.

The Gage County Fair is featuring a new carnival from Texas this year…and $25 armbands offer unlimited rides.  Sunday afternoon, Wiegand says, is the market livestock premium auction in the main barn at the fairgrounds.

Sunday will be the Four-H and FFA Livestock Parade of Champions, and recognition of farm families and friends of the fair.
