Beatrice Police arrest suspect after assaults, threat

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested a 20-year-old man after investigating the assault of another man and a girl.

Police Wednesday received a report from a man identified as Jon Philippi that he had been assaulted by another man.  He reported the man punching him in the face four times, then walking away.

While searching for the man identified as Steven King, a second victim flagged down a sheriff’s deputy to report she had been assaulted by the same male and two other girls.  The victim said she was grabbed and thrown to the ground, with the two juvenile girls attacking her.

As police investigated, another witness reported being threatened by King.  As she was walking away, she was told by the suspect he was going to get a gun and kill her and her family.

Police arrested King and as they were trying to recover his cell phone, he allegedly threw it at an officer. As the officer attempted to shut the rear door of his patrol car, the suspect kicked it open….hitting the officer’s knee.  After shutting the door, police said King then used his head to break out the window.

King was arrested for making a terroristic threat, two counts of third-degree assault, 3rd-degree assault of an officer and criminal mischief.
