Arson suspect ruled not competent to stand trial

NORTH PLATTE – A central Nebraska judge has ruled that a North Platte man arrested in connection with the arson of his own home is not competent to stand trial.

Court documents show that 60-year-old Kevin Donnelly has been sent to a Lincoln facility for mental health treatment.

Officials say Donnelly set a fire to a trailer in April that his mother owned and he lived in at the time.

The State Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene and determined the cause of the fire was incendiary in nature.

Donnelly is facing 2nd-Degree Arson Charges.
