A way to remember: Animal shelter breaks ground on Memorial Garden

NORFOLK, Neb. - Pet-lovers are breaking ground at the pound.

The Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska is starting construction on a memorial garden.

The space will be for pets and people.

Dog owners like Jean Allen are buying bricks in honor of their furry friends.

"I do pet therapy with my dogs and I had three certified pet therapy dogs, which have all passed away and I miss them a lot," said Allen. "So I just want to have bricks for them here."

The project will be done by Guaranteed Landscaping and Sprinklers as well as people with the shelter.

They hope to have the garden ready for use before winter.
