The Platte County Fair kicked off Wednesday. It'll include plenty of games, animals, and contests.
Many kids showed up Wednesday to showcase their skills as part of the youth organization known as 4H.
"It's kind of the culmination. They've been working toward this week for the last few months and even all year," Jill Goedeken, 4H extension educator said.
Kids came from separate groups and clubs from around the region to showcase photography, art, sand-making skills, plant growing, and more.
"So many of the kids really get into the projects even the houseplants and flowers, and it's fun to teach them," said Sarah Browning, extension educator with UNL, judging horticulture. She and the other adults were eager to support the kids after a year was canceled due to covid.
Lisa Windedahl was relaxing at home but when she heard some of the 4H kids needed more color in their art project, she jumped to the rescue and showed up with a bunch of markers to help the kids decorate a poster last-minute.
Activities at the fair will also include a Ferris wheel, food trucks, and an arcade, among more. For the full itinerary see this link: http://www.agpark.com/?page_id=68
