3 adults, 4 students injured when pickup, school bus collide near Bedford, Iowa

A collision between a school bus and pickup truck in southwest Iowa put four students and three adults in the hospital Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred northeast of Bedford, Iowa, at Iowa Highway 2 and Lake Road. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup failed to yield to the bus, striking it as the bus went through the intersection.
The bus spun into the south ditch, landing on its passenger side and top. The injured, including the two drivers, were taken by ambulance to various hospitals in Council Bluffs, Clarinda and elsewhere.
The driver of the pickup was J. Fred Lischer, 62, of Bedford. The school bus was driven by Garry Rankin, 53, of Bedford. The third adult injured, Jeanne Cavin, 62, of Grant City, Missouri, was aboard the bus at the time of the crash.
The injured children are 11, 13, 13, and 16 years old. The crash report does not include their names or genders or describe the extent of their injuries. All are expected to survive.
