24-year-old man arrested in connection to weekend shooting deaths

OMAHA, Neb. – A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting that left two men dead this weekend.

Omaha Police arrested Mabior Mabior of Omaha and booked him into Douglas County Corrections early Monday.

Mabior faces two counts of criminal homicide in the deaths of Loklok W. Thok, 27, and Duop Tang Deng, 24. Mabior also faces two counts of using a gun to commit a felony, according to an OPD news release.

Officers responded to a call near 24th and Emmet streets at 2:56 a.m. Saturday to find the two men had been shot. One man was declared dead at the scene. The other died on the way to Nebraska Medical Center.

Police did not release a possible motive or other details of the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.
