24-year-old Lincoln resident identified as man killed in I-80 crash

Officials have identified the man who died Monday when he was thrown from his vehicle in a crash on Interstate 80 near Greenwood.

The crash occurred about 8 a.m.

A Honda Civic driven by Travis Egan went out of control, crossed the median and rolled, the Nebraska State Patrol said. Egan, of Lincoln, was thrown into the path of an oncoming Jeep Grand Laredo.

Other travelers stopped to render medical aid, but Egan died at the scene, officials said.

The driver of the Laredo was not injured. I-80 was closed for eastbound traffic from Waverly to Greenwood for about four hours.
