GRAND ISALND – Even though they came up short, the Islanders proved they can play with the state’s best.
Grand Island hosted No. 3 Lincoln East on Friday and fell 45-43 after the Spartans knocked down two free throws with less than a second to play.
The Islanders head to Kearney on Saturday while East will host Omaha Westside.
