Funeral Services for George Eacker, age 95
December 12, 1922 - February 23, 2018

George Eacker, 95 of Broken Bow, died Feb. 23, 2018, at the Broken Bow Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial Services will be March 10th at 2:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Gary Smith officiating.  Inurnment at the Broken Bow Cemetery with Military Honors.  Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

George was born December 12, 1922, on a farm near Ericson, NE to John Isaac and Freida Marie (Thoms) Eacker.  He grew up in Broken Bow and graduated from the Broken Bow High School.  He married Jean Huffaker on January 4, 1943. To this union, four children were born:  Carol Jean, Dennis Lee, Thomas Dean and Kay Joan.

George was baptized into the Presbyterian Church and later recognized for over 50 years of membership.

He was in the Army Air Corp during 1943-1946 as a gunnery instructor & carbine marksman and served along with four of his brothers.  His older brother Art lost his life during that time.

George worked for his father for a time installing wind chargers over the country.  He worked as a lineman for the B.Bow Utilities and later for  34 years at Custer Public Power, retiring in 1984.  He was a member of the American Legion & the Elks Lodge in Broken Bow.  He and Jean enjoyed going dancing.  George also enjoyed helping his children and everyone else with any job big or small.

George is survived by his four children; Carol (Charles) Wright of Benson, AZ, Dennis (Sandra) of Kenesaw, NE, Tom (Judy) of Broken Bow and Kay (Dave) Carland of Golden, CO, one Brother, Don (Betty), sisters-in-law, LaVerne  Eacker , Geraldine Eacker, Irene Eacker , & Willa Wagner, brother-in-law, Marvin (Barb) Huffaker,  11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchild.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jean, his brothers, Gilbert, Eddie, Everett, Arnold, John, Arthur, James, Kenneth, Eldon and his sisters, Alice, Evelyn, & Dorothy Ferne, son-in-law, Byron Foster and grandson Brandon Eacker.
