Vernon was the son of Guy and E. Louise (Hircock) Seevers.  He was born at home on the farm west of Merna on May 13, 1938

He enjoyed all sports at Merna High School, when he competed and also watching his kids and grandkids compete at the schools that they attended.  Vernon graduated from Merna High School in 1956.

Vernon became a United States Marine on March 15, 1957 and the farm boy had to leave the farm to go to California and was later Honorably Discharged.

While in high school he found his lifelong sweetheart, and married Shirley Geiser on May 24, 1959.  Three children were born to this union: Michael Lynn, Kathy Lynae and Karen Kay.

He started farming with his father, Guy, when he left the service in 1959.  He loved living and working on the farm.  Working with his son, Mike, and then his grandson, Ty and his family, on the farm was what kept him going.  He couldn’t wait for Lamb’s to give him a call when it was time to go discing, chiseling or driving the grain cart.  Another big enjoyment for Vernon was camping and the sights he saw while camping and the many, many friends that he made.  Vernon really enjoyed the camping trips that his brother, Roland, and him went on. He enjoyed camping with his grandkids and having birthday camping trips with his great grandkids.  4-H was a big part of his family.  He helped and supported his kids and grandkids through their projects, whether it be pigs, cattle, or taste testing cooking, doing daily chores and was always there at the fair cheering them on.

He was a long-time member of the Merna United Methodist Church, a member of the Custer County Camping Club, and enjoyed playing cards with his card bunch.

Vernon was a kind and caring soul!!  He took care of his mother later in her life, his wife throughout a long battle with cancer, his daughter, Karen, when she was very ill and his son, Mike, in his battle with MS. He cared for and helped his neighbors many times throughout the years.

Vernon is survived by: his Son, Michael (Connie) Seevers, Fremont, Daughter, Kathy (Dale) Scott, Ansley, Son-in-law, Steve Kirkpatrick, Broken Bow, Grandchildren: Tanya McDermott, Topeka, KS, Dustin (Laurel) Seevers, Kearney, Tyrel (Tabbi) Seevers, Anselmo, Shawn (Melissa) Seevers, Norfolk, Trevor and Trent Scott, Ansley, Hannah Kirkpatrick, Hershey, Katie Kirkpatrick, Omaha, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Broken Bow, Troy Kirkpatrick, Broken Bow, Sister: Leona Deaver, Grand Island, Brother: Roland (Doris) Seevers, Grand Island, Sister-in-law, Rosella Geiser, Broken Bow, Brother-in-law, Les (Sandra) Geiser, Tabernash, CO, Great Grandchildern: Savannah and Kaiden Nelson, Annabelle, Ellie, and Ethan Seevers, Tatum and Tilden Seevers, T.J., Lily and Ella Seevers, Special Friend and Camping Partner:  Jeanne Leibhart, and many other family and friends.
