Nancy moved with her family to Beeville, Texas when she was a 5th grader.  The family remained in Beeville, Texas where Nancy was active in Girl Scouts and Methodist Youth Fellowship until 8th grade. In the summer of 1953, Willard and Lorraine moved the family to Broken Bow, NE which was about half way for the annual movement of the family honey bees from Texas to North Dakota.

Nancy attended Broken Bow High School, graduating with the Class of 1957.  While in high school, Nancy excelled in choir, band and 4-H.
