Max C. Bristol was born on October 17, 1936, at Ansley, NE to Ernest and Dorothy (Miller) Bristol. On June 19, 1955, Max was married to Lenore Slingsby.  They were married 62 years.

Max with his wife Lenore and his 5 children spent the early years of their lives farming. They later moved to Broken Bow.  He became the Custer County Weed Superintendent.  In 1994 Max and Lenore moved to Laramie, Wyoming where he had the pleasure of being the Albany County Weed and Pest Control Supervisor.  In 2003 they retired and moved to Kearney, NE.  After his retirement, he continued to spray noxious weeds for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads.

Max enjoyed life to the fullest with his wife Lenore, children and grandchildren.  He spent his life caring for the land by farming and controlling noxious weeds. He received awards from the county, state, and the EPA.  He wrote the book on weeds. People say he was the strongest man they ever met.  Most of the time a person would not be able to tell if he was serious or joking around, that how good he was at giving you a hard time.  In his early years he grew the garden to feed his family, in the later years he grew a garden for everyone’s enjoyment.  As a team, Max and Lenore treated everyone as family.
