Marlyn Ann (Holmes) McCullough age 77 of the Ansley area passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow, NE after a lengthy battle with dementia.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 11:00 am the United Methodist Church in Ansley, NE with Pastor Lori Stevens officiating, followed by a luncheon provided by the UMC family. A private inurnment will take place April 3rd at 10:00 am. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. An online guest book may be signed at www.govierbrothers.com.
Marlyn Ann Breiner was born October 10, 1943 to Charles “Chick” and Isabelle (Hall) Breiner of rural Ansley. Marlyn grew up on the farm, before moving to town and graduating from Ansley High School in 1962. On July 25, 1963 she married K. David Holmes, who preceded her in death in To this union, three daughters were born: Teresa Ann, Kristi Lynn, and Kaci Jo.
Marlyn was first and foremost a mother, and then grandmother. She treasured her children and grandchildren and looked forward to every visit and enjoyed traveling to Colorado to visit Kristi, and Teresa and their families. She loved to support her children in their activities and never missed an event. Marlyn faithfully attended anything her grandchildren were involved in, until her health prevented her from doing so. Even then, she cherished hearing about what each of them was doing. One of her passions was decorating for each holiday, but something that never changed was her huge display of pictures of all of her family-from newborn pictures to recent snapshots. These pictures surrounded her late in life, bringing her comfort even when she couldn’t talk about them.
Marlyn was small in stature but she was known to work mighty hard! She worked at Becton Dickinson and worked in road construction for many years, and she and Dave operated a cafe on Main Street. She was a paraeducator at Ansley Public School, and she worked as a cook at the hospital. Marlyn loved to cook, and often hosted dinners for her family. She never forgot a holiday, and always sent a card celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or even just a fun holiday, always signed in her beautiful handwriting “Love, Mom”. Her family is comforted by the knowledge that she will spend her favorite holiday, Easter, in heaven with Jesus.
Marlyn is survived by her children Teresa Holmes and husband Mike Crites, Kristi and Mike Wood, and Kaci and Travis Johnson, grandchildren Lukas and Tyler Wood, and Kailey, Camryn, and Chase Johnson, and sister Jean Bubak.
Marlyn was reunited in heaven with her first husband Dave, brothers Gary and Larry, and her parents Chick and Isabelle.
