Funeral Services for Margaret Davis, age 97
October 18, 1923 - July 28, 2021

Margaret Davis age 97 of Taylor, died Wednesday July 28, 2021 at the Quality Senior Village in Broken Bow.

     Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Loup County Event Center in Taylor with Pastor Steve Shanno officiating.  Burial will be in the Madison Square Cemetery near Taylor.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Loup County Event Center in Taylor.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the VFW Auxiliary Post # 6159, Loup County Scholarship Fund, or the Loup County Fire and Rescue Departments.  Online condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com.           Margaret Ellen was born October 18, 1923, to Arthur E. and Mary M. Replogle Dilsaver. Margaret is a native of Loup County. She was born and raised in the Madison Square Community. She attended the Madison Square School District II for her elementary education and graduated from Taylor High School in 1941.

     On June 1, 1946, Margaret married Donald D. Davis in Valentine, NE. They had a double wedding ceremony with Harold and Geneva Davis. Don and Margaret moved to Margaret’s parents’ place west of Taylor in the Madison Square community and helped on the ranch.

     In March of 1947 they moved to the Almeria community and purchased the place known as the Bill Jameson place then owned by Frank and Nettie Hubbard. They engaged in some farming, raised cattle and a few hogs. They milked a few cows and raised some chickens and sold the cream and eggs at the Almeria Country store. They made lots of improvements by putting electricity, running water, and planting trees for shelterbelts.

     Margaret was a well-known caregiver. When she was a teenager, she took care of her mother and in the later years her parents and Don’s parents lived with them. On March 17, 1948, a son Rex Lee Davis was born in Burwell. Then on September 11, 1952, a daughter Donna Rea was born in Burwell. As the kids grew up, she was active in Almeria Sunday School, 4-H, the Almeria Ladies Club, the Almeria School Board, and the Election Board.

     She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events and having them come visit to play croquet, badminton, old maid, rummy, and pitch. She also enjoyed making quilts for her family and making quilts with the Almeria Ladies Club. Her family loved her fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, her dill pickles, potato salad, and her sour cream raisin pie. She had a love for her garden and flowers and canned lots of wonderful things from her garden. She was the grand Marshall for the Loup County Fair in 2013

     She is survived by her son Rex and wife Doris of North Platte. Grandchildren Stacy Spencer (Denise) of Phoenix Arizona, Kendra and Jeremi Pollard of Taylor, Michaela and Brandin Keith of Taylor, Brett Spencer of Taylor, Justin, and Meredith Davis of Grand Island, and Ashley and Micheal Clay of Broken Bow. Great Grandkids Teague Pollard, Monica (Terry) Keith

Glidden, Shelby Keith, Garrett Keith, Lena Spencer, Brady Spencer, Kara Davis, Ava Davis, and Ellie Davis, Sebastian Clay. Then she had three Great Great Grandkids, Anabelle Glidden, Ashlynn Glidden, and William Glidden. Son in law Mike Spencer and brother-in-law Lawrence Davis and wife Tina. Her sister in laws Audrey Caskey and husband Dale and Lois Stewart and husband Ivan.

     She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, daughter Donna, brother Art, and her sister Irma.
