Funeral Services for Louis “Louie” Brim, age 81
November 22, 1939 - October 22, 2021

Louis “Louie” Brim age 81 of Sargent died Friday October 22, 2021, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 27, 2021, at 10:30 AM at the Sargent Church of Christ with Pastor Marty Robbins officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Sargent with military honors and last page by the Sargent Volunteer Fire department.  Memorials are suggested to the Sargent Fire Department or the Sargent American Legion Post # 104.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday October 26, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sargent Church of Christ.  Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements.  Words of encouragement and remembrance can be left at govierbrothers.com  

Louis Vencil Brim was born on November 22, 1939, at Sargent, NE to Vencil and Elsie (Klatt) Brim.  He grew up in Sargent graduating in 1957.  After high school Louis moved to Denver and attended school.  He worked for a furniture store hanging draperies.  In 1963, Louis was drafted into the US Army.  He was honorably discharged in 1965.  After his discharge, Louis returned to Sargent where he farmed.  He was married to Jenae Goble on January 14, 1968.  Louis continued farming until 1985.  When the State of Nebraska decided to build the Calamus Reservoir, Louis worked on the Calamus Dam for a few years and then went to work for the irrigation district.  Louis later worked as a rural mail carrier for 7 years retiring in 2004.  Louis was married to Lois Sherbeck on February 22, 1991.  They enjoyed traveling and took many trips including Hawaii, Alaska, and Disney World.  Lois passed away in 2014.  Louis continued to live in Sargent.  He enjoyed spending his days helping Danny with the pheasants, playing cards, working in his garden, and going to coffee.  

Louis was always involved in the community of Sargent.  He operated the football and basketball scoreboard for over 44 years.  He was a volunteer fireman and was a member of the American Legion.   

Louis is survived by his son Danny (Robin) Dowse of Sargent, two grandchildren, Stephanie (J.D.) Keefe of Sargent, Brittany (Robert) Myers of Sargent, three great grandchildren, Keaton Dowse, Kooper Keefe, Kinley Keefe, and special family member Bill (Deanna) Goble.  Louis is also survived by Lois’s children, Tim Sherbeck, Ed Sherbeck, Barb Allison, Jo Tederman, Jan Osborn and their families.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, his parents, uncle Ed and aunt Helen Brim and an infant son Donald.
