It is with great sadness that the family of Kent M. Smith announces his passing after a brief illness, on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at the age 69 years. Kent, known to all as “Mike”, will be remembered and missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
Mike attended the University of Life. He worked most of his life in road construction, and after he retired, his hobby was to make a complete miniature hot mix plant by the way of wood working. If he wasn’t working in his garage, he was spending time with his family. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family dearly and loved to share his knowledge and advice. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Gary Smith of Grand Island NE; daughter, Christa M. Smith of Jacksonville FL; son, Jonathan M. Smith of Canton SD; daughter, Amanda G. Smith of Oldsmar FL; grandchildren, Kaytlyn J. Smith, Payton M. Smith, Lincoln D. Smith, BriAnna L. Smith, Devon A. Smith, great-grandchild, Noah M. Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Sean L. Smith; mother, Grace V. Hunt Smith; father, Lynn D. (Dale) Smith; sister, Kathy J. Smith; and brother Gayle L. Smith
Graveside service to be held for Kent M. Smith on April 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Location; Ansley Cemetery, 2424 Cemetery Rd, Ansley, NE 68814, located just north of Ansley on US 183. Luncheon to follow at Ansley City Auditorium 720 Douglas St. Ansley NE 68814.
In keeping with the way Mike lived his life, the family is requesting that any gifts in his memory be in the form of donation to a chosen charity or random act of kindness to someone in need.
