Funeral Services for Janet Linn, age 74
April 28, 1944 - October 1, 2018

Janet Linn age 74, of Thedford, died October 1, 2018, at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Thedford, NE.  Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Thedford. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Thedford.  Memorials are suggested to the Church or the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Janet was born on April 28th, 1944, in Thedford, Nebraska to Roy Marcus and Alice Katherine (Faubel) Lowry, the second of three children.

She was raised on the family ranch about 1 mile southwest of Thedford and attended Thomas County High School before graduating in 1962.  After high school, she attended Chadron State College, graduating in 1966 with a degree in elementary education. She performed her student teaching at Valentine, Nebraska and held permanent teaching positions at Sidney (3 years), Norfolk (1 year), and O’Neill (2 years).

She met Chauncey Jerry Linn in 1970, and after several years of courtship, they were married on August 5, 1972, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Thedford, Nebraska.  

Janet stopped teaching, she and Jerry made their home in Thedford, Nebraska, welcoming Jerry’s son, James Eliott Linn.  Further to this union, Jerry and Janet had two more sons, Mark Nathan, and Craig Andrew.

Janet stayed busy raising the three boys, working part-time at the Thedford Sale Barn and substitute teaching.  After the boys grew older, she worked at the Thomas County Treasurer’s office.

Janet enjoyed gardening, sewing, jigsaw puzzling, cake decorating, and general crafts.  She enjoyed preparing flower arrangements for the church altar. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, a member of the Sunshine Chapter #261 Order of Eastern Star, member of Thomas County Extension Club, as well as many other local organizations.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; sisters and brother-in-law Jean (Lowry) Waterfill, Jack and Gail (Lowry) Johnston; sons and daughters-in-law James and Beth (Joedeman) Linn, Mark and Andrea (Bryner) Linn, Craig Linn and wife Jamie Dengerud; grandchildren Larissa and Jacob Linn, Patrick Joedeman, Michael and Briana (Joedeman) Padgett; nieces and nephews James Waterfill, Terry and Ann (Waterfill) Brishaber, Keith and Jennifer (Johnston) Norwood, David and Eva (Zsuzsa Trembacz) Johnston, Adam and Teresa (Johnston) Grudzinski, Derrel and Lacee (Davis) Johnston, Robert and Mary (Johnston) Vogt, Patrick and Emily (Hogan) Johnston, further family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Roy and Alice Lowry; brother-in-law, David Waterfill; nephew, Glen Waterfill; grandson, Christopher Joedeman.
