Funeral Services for James Hunt

James Frederick “Jim” Hunt passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the age of 67 at his home in Mahaska, KS.

Jim was born in Broken Bow, NE on May 21, 1953 to Clyde and Laura (Bruns) Hunt and grew up in Arcadia, NE. He worked for the Irrigation District for some time before working on a ranch in Purdum, NE. Jim lived in North Platte and had worked at the tire store and for the COOP in Merna. He moved to Mahaska, KS in February of 1991 where he and Johnita Patterson made their home. Jim owned and operated his own trucking business for 10 years and then drove truck for Bohlings for several years. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. and had served on the Mahaska City Council and took care of the city water for years.

Jim loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He raised 4 miniature ponies that he loved very much and would sometimes even bring one into the house. He also loved his chihuahua named Coco. He would lie on the floor and play with her and she had to go everywhere with Jim.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Laura (Bruns) Hunt of Arcadia.

Jim is survived by Johnita of Mahaska; sons Scott and Mike Hunt of North Platte, and John Patterson of Hebron, NE; many grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; siblings Barbara Jean Hunt and Carol Croghan of Broken Bow, NE, Betty (Randy) Mann of Berwyn, NE and Robert (Paula) Hunt of Elm Creek, NE.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held this summer. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial to his family has been established and may be sent to 111 South Main Street in Mahaska, KS, 66955. Sign Jim’s online guest book at www.ghchapel.com.
