Funeral Services for Clarene Simonson, age 82

June 29, 1939 - May 30, 2022

Clarene Alice Simonson was born June 29, 1939, on a farm near Mason City, Nebraska, to Clarence and Sarah Lamb.  She attended grade school at Algernon Country School until 3rd grade.  She was baptized and became a member of the Mason City First Baptist Church.  She graduated from Mason City High School in 1956.  She was a a great volleyball player and athlete.  After high school, she taught K-8 at a country school then went to work for Becton Dickson in Broken Bow.

Clarene was married to Robert Simonson on April 19, 1959.  The couple had four children.  After being a stay-at-home-mom, she worked alongside her husband in their butcher shop in Merna, Nebraska.  She then went to work at the Merna Post Office.  In 1976, the family moved to Lexington to run Midwest Liquor and Clarene transferred to the Post Office in Elwood.  She retired in 1999.

When Bob entered the VA Home in Grand Island, she moved to Marquette to be near him. After he passed in 2005, she eventually moved to Mullen to be closer to her youngest daughter and her family.  She enjoyed eleven years in this community that welcomed her.  She thoroughly enjoyed cheering on her grandsons and the Mullen Broncos.

Clarene was surrounded by her family in the days leading up to her passing on Monday, May 30th.  She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren:  Terry (Delanie) Simonson of Florence, SC; Rodney (Shelly) Simonson of Lincoln, Ne; Pamela (Shawn) Pieschke of Eagle, Ne; Barb (Bernie) McIntosh of Mullen, Ne; Shane (Jobi) Pieschke of Gretna, Ne. Taylor and Tyler Barlogi; Ally Simonson; Britt & Brooke McIntosh; Brode McIntosh; Bryce McIntosh; Lexi & Addi Piechke.  Grayson Barlogi, Chasin McIntosh, and Kayden Barlogi.  Brothers & Sisters:  Ann Holm; Roy and Nancy Lamb; Esther and Jerry Arnold; Eileen Weides; and Linda and Steve Luchio.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert Simonson, her parents, two brothers; one sister; and her great granddaughter Maycee.

Visitation will be held at Sandhills Bible Church in Mullen, Ne on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10-11 am.  The funeral services will begin at 11 am with lunch to follow.  Memorials to the family will benefit Mullen Public Schools and the Mullen Swimming Pool.  Memorials may be mailed to:
