Dan Greer, age 81 of Taylor died September 4, 2018, Taylor, NE

Services will be Thursday, September 13th at the Loup County Event Center at 10:30 a.m. followed by internment at the Taylor Cemetery and lunch at the Event Center.  Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com

Eldon Leroy “Dan” Greer was born on September 22, 1936, at North Platte, NE to Roy and Eva (Spraker) Greer.  

Dan graduated from North Platte High School and went on to serve in the US Navy from 1954 to 1959.  After his honorable discharge, he married Linda Satterfield on May 7, 1961, and enrolled into the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1964.

Upon graduating, Dan began his career at the University of Nebraska Dental College where he worked as the Business Manager and Assistant Professor of Business.  After working at the college for 13 years, Dan, Linda, and family moved to Cave Creek, Arizona in 1981 where Dan owned Custom Screen and Awning Company. In 2012, Dan and Linda returned to Nebraska to settle on the Williams Homestead outside of Taylor where Dan enjoyed the open space, coffee at the Corner Stop, being Commander of the Taylor VFW, a member of the Taylor Lion’s Club and the Burwell Legion as well as numerous projects on the farm.

Survivors include his wife Linda of Taylor, daughters; Kyle(Chuck) Shepard of Taylor and Tracy(Rob) O’Connor of Cave Creek, AZ, five grandchildren; Cory Shepard, Morgan Shepard, Nicole Swanner, Taylor (Richard) Lopez, Kendrick (Kenna Lee) Vaughn, three step-grandchildren, Charles Shepard, Justin O’Connor and Nicholas O’Connor, six great-grandchildren; Blake Shepard, Tyson Shepard, Tiffany Swanner, Ella Lopez, Lindley Lopez and Lincoln Vaughn, two brothers; James (Rosie) Greer of Grand Island, and Robert Greer of Amarillo, TX

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Keely Wyn Greer Alter, brothers: Donald and Darrell, and a sister Wilma.
