Funeral Services for Althea Ferguson, age 93
February 23, 1924 - January 12, 2018

Althea Ferguson age 93 of Broken Bow, NE passed away peacefully in her sleep to be with our Lord on  Friday, January 12, 2018, in Peoria, AZ.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 3:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Todd Karges officiating.  Burial will be in the New Helena Cemetery.  Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Govier Brothers with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary.  Online condolences can be left a www.govierbrothers.com

Althea was born on February 23, 1924, in Custer County, NE to Charles and Thelma (Ross) Sargent.  After Althea took Normal Training, she worked as a school teacher during World War II.  She married the love of her life, Virgil L. Ferguson.  They were married in North Carolina, where Virgil was stationed.  Two this union four children were born; Virgil “Gene”, Sheri, Beki, and Charles, as well as a foster daughter Sharon Fox.

After Althea’s children were raised she went back to school and became a travel agent.  Althea had her own business “Trans Global Travel” in downtown Broken Bow.

Althea was Nana to six grandchildren; Troy, Katina, Matthew, Chelsea, Chase, and Kristen, as well as great grandma to Krystal, Megan, Nikolas, Kasara, Michael, Amber, Jeremy, and Aria.  She was also Nana to 10 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ferguson loved music, swimming, and traveling.  She traveled abroad many times.

She was a devoted member of the Broken Bow United Methodist Church and a friend to all.

Althea was always willing to lend a hand or help a friend.  She truly enjoyed being with people, was always able to make friends wherever she went and brought joy to many.  Althea’s legacy is to have nurtured and received love, loyalty, and the respect of her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Family was always first and foremost in her life.  She was pleased to see and experience her legacy passed on to her five generation descendants.  

Althea was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Virgil, two brothers, Floyd and Clifford, a sister, Vivian and grandson Troy and a great-granddaughter Makala.

She is survived by her children; Virgil “Gene” Ferguson of Peoria, AZ, Sheri Stark of Peoria, AZ, Beki Ferguson of Lincoln, and Charles Ferguson of Tempe, AZ, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother Charles (Wanda)  Sargent Jr. of Broken Bow.
