Funeral Services for Marjorie Mae Johnson, age 99
January 27, 1919 - May 7, 2018

Marjorie Mae Johnson “Marj” peacefully passed to be with her Lord at the Callaway Good Life Care Center of Callaway, NE on May 7, 2018.

Graveside services on Monday, May 21, 2018, at 2 PM at Hope Cemetery Newman Grove, NE with Reverend Becky Beckmann officiating.  The Newman Grove Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran or American Legion Auxiliary or Donor’s choice.

 

She was born in Boone, NE on, to Frank and Alma (Barbeau) Bittner of Akron and Boone, NE.

Marj and husband, Virgil C. Johnson, made their life and raised their family in Newman Grove, NE where she enjoyed working as a bookkeeper at Farmers Co-op.  She was a very active lifetime member of Zion Lutheran and American Legion Auxiliary.  In her retirement years, she enjoyed embroidering squares she turned into several beautiful quilts for each of her family members.  After her husband passed at 89, December 17, 2001, she moved to Off Broadway Assisted Living in Broken Bow, NE which was home for several years until she moved to Callaway, NE.

She truly enjoyed visiting with the youngest to the oldest of family and friends at her 99th birthday celebration.  She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith and family!

She is survived by her three sons Virgil (Barbara) Johnson, Berwyn, NE, Doug (Margaret) Johnson, Broken Bow, NE, Tim (Lenni) Johnson, Hemingford, NE. Brother Robert E. Bittner of Albion, NE. Grandchildren Gregg (Holly) Johnson of Berwyn, NE, Sara (Joe) Peneton of Arvada CO, Katy Johnson of Scottsbluff, NE, Keri Johnson of Shawnee, KS, Andy Johnson of Bellevue, NE, Brook (Brian) Johnson of Hemingford, NE.  She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son David Johnson, sister Frances (Bittner) Johnson, brothers Don and Darrell Bittner.
