Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team moved up a spot to fifth in the latest edition of the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 poll.

UNK (11-1) went 3-0 in Texas last week, pushing its win streak to eight in a row.

The Lopers received 991 points to be one of six Central Region teams in the Top 10. Southwest Minnesota State (1,199; 47 first place) remains number one with defending champ Concordia-St. Paul (1,153; 1 first place) a solid second.

Besides UNK, SMSU and CU, the other Central teams in the poll are Minnesota-Duluth (No. 6), Winona State (No. 9), Central Oklahoma (No. 10), Augustana (No. 12), Central Missouri (No. 15), Wayne State (No. 18), Northern State (No. 19), Arkansas Tech (No. 24) and Washburn (No. 25).

UNK begins MIAA play this weekend with home matches against Washburn (Fri.) and Emporia State (Sat.).
