What to know for Nebraska prep girls basketball district finals in Class C-1, C-2, D-1 and D-2

Class C-1

C1-1, at North Platte

Mitchell (23-1) vs. Syracuse (17-8), 3 p.m.: The Tigers have won 14 in a row since their only loss, a 39-32 setback Dec. 29 against Superior. The Rockets are seeking their first state tourney berth in 33 years.

C1-2, at Elkhorn South

Wahoo Neumann (19-3) vs. Omaha Roncalli (16-9), 7 p.m.:The Cavaliers have won 13 of 14, including a subdistrict final victory over previously unbeaten Wahoo. The Crimson Pride have not reached state since 2007.

C1-3, at Kearney

Wahoo (22-1) vs. Chase County (14-9), 7 p.m.: The Warriors were the last unbeaten team in the state until a subdistrict final loss to Neumann. The Longhorns were the No. 3 seed in subdistricts but upset Hershey and Ogallala.

C1-4, at Norfolk

West Point-Beemer (22-2) vs. O’Neill (19-5), 6 p.m.: The Cadets are coming off an overtime loss against North Bend in the subdistrict final. The Eagles have won 15 of their last 16, losing only to Crofton in overtime.

C1-5, at Grand Island Northwest

Lincoln Christian (16-8) vs. Broken Bow (20-5), 7 p.m.: The Crusaders have won five in a row, including an 18-point win over Milford in the subdistrict final. The Indians are seeking their first state tourney berth since their 2003 championship season.

C1-6, at Fremont

Louisville (21-3) vs. Columbus Lakeview (17-7), 7 p.m.: The seventh-ranked Lions steamrolled Omaha Brownell Talbot by 34 in their subdistrict final. The unranked Vikings are seeking their first trip to state since 1991.

C1-7, at Cross County

Grand Island Central Catholic (18-5) vs. North Bend (18-7), 7 p.m.: The Crusaders lost to Adams Central 35-28 in a low-scoring subdistrict final. The Tigers have some quality wins to their credit, including victories over Oakland-Craig and West Point-Beemer.

C1-8, at Aurora

Milford (19-5) vs. Adams Central (17-7), 7 p.m.: The Eagles, one of four wild-cards, are seeking their first state tourney berth since 2008. The Patriots survived an overtime game against Kearney Catholic in subdistricts before winning the final.

Class C-2

C2-1, at North Platte St. Patrick

Hastings St. Cecilia (22-1) vs. Bayard (16-9), 6 p.m.: The top-ranked Hawkettes have won 11 in a row since their only loss to Class B Grand Island Northwest. The Tigers’ only trip to state came in 1987, losing in the first round to East Butler.

C2-2, at Norfolk Catholic

Crofton (20-3) vs. Twin River (13-10), 7 p.m.: The Warriors have lost once since Dec. 15 and can count among its wins a victory over Class B power South Sioux City. The Titans upset Burwell 48-32 in the subdistrict final to reach this point.

C2-3, at Crete

Fillmore Central (21-4) vs. Freeman (16-10), 6:30 p.m.: The Panthers, who have lost just twice since Christmas, slipped past Superior 56-55 in the subdistrict final. The Falcons also won their subdistrict by a point, defeating Southern 28-27.

C2-4, at South Sioux City

Oakland-Craig (20-3) vs. Hartington Cedar Catholic (12-8), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights are led by senior guard Dacey Nelson, who tops the state with a 26.7-point scoring average. The Trojans are coming off a one-point upset win over Ponca in the subdistrict final.

C2-5, at Seward

Ponca (22-3) vs. Elm Creek (19-4), 6 p.m.: The Indians saw their 17-game win streak come to an end in subdistricts. The Buffaloes, who beat South Loup in a subdistrict final, are seeking their second trip to state in three years.

C2-6, at Beatrice

Superior (18-5) vs. Centennial (18-6), 7 p.m.: The defending C-2 champion is here as a wild card after losing to Fillmore Central by a point in subdistricts. The Broncos get another shot at the Wildcats, who posted a 53-51 overtime win Feb. 2.

C2-7, at Plattsmouth

Nebraska City Lourdes (19-5) vs. Yutan (20-4), 5 p.m.: The Knights are seeking their second trip to state and first since 2000. The Chieftains have split two previous games against Lourdes, winning the most recent contest 41-37 in the subdistrict final.

C2-8, at York

Clarkson/Leigh (21-3) vs. Blue Hill (20-4), 7 p.m.: The Patriots have won 15 of their last 16, losing only to West Point-Beemer. The Bobcats saw their 18-game win streak snapped in the subdistrict final by St. Cecilia.

Class D-1

D1-1, at Arapahoe

North Platte St. Patrick (23-1) vs. Axtell (12-13), 5:30 p.m.: The third-ranked Irish are seeking their seventh trip to state in the past eight years. The Wildcats, seeded third in their subdistrict, upset Alma in the semifinal and Overton in the final.

D1-2, at Boone Central

Pleasanton (24-1) vs. Randolph (14-9), 7 p.m.: The Bulldogs have not lost since a Dec. 8 setback against South Loup. The Cardinals regrouped from a 38-point loss to C-2 power Crofton by winning their subdistrict, defeating Pender in the final.

D1-3, at Gothenburg

Dundy County-Stratton (21-2) vs. Heartland (13-9), 7 p.m.:The Tigers are out to make amends after seeing their four-year state tourney streak snapped last year. The Huskies avenged an earlier loss, defeating Deshler in the subdistrict final.

D1-4, at Waverly

Fremont Bergan (15-8) vs. Johnson-Brock (15-8), 6 p.m.: The second-ranked Knights had no trouble with Weeping Water in the subdistrict final, winning by 22. The Eagles are a state volleyball tourney regular but haven’t been to state in basketball since 1994.

D1-5, at Norfolk (Northeast Community College)

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (20-4) vs. Hartington-Newcastle (17-7), 7 p.m.: The Bulldogs seek a return to state after losing to eventual champion North Central 67-64 in last year’s first round. The Wildcats defeated North Central 51-38 in a subdistrict final.

D1-6, at Broken Bow

North Central (19-2) vs. Cambridge (16-8), 7 p.m.: The Knights won state last year in just their second state tournament appearance. The Trojans lost for the third time this season to Dundy County-Stratton in the subdistrict final.

D1-7, at Central City

Lawrence-Nelson (20-4) vs. Elkhorn Valley (22-4), 7 p.m.:The seventh-ranked Raiders are seeking their first trip to state since 2011. The 10th-ranked Falcons have been to state 11 times but not since 2012.

D1-8, at Adams Central

Weeping Water (17-8) vs. Hitchcock County (18-4), 3:30 p.m.:The Indians have been to state just once, losing to Norfolk Lutheran Northeast in a 2012 first-rounder. The Falcons have been to state three times and are seeking their second straight trip.

Class D-2

D2-1, at Grand Island Central Catholic

Falls City Sacred Heart (22-3) vs. Arthur County (8-14), 6 p.m.: The top-ranked Irish are riding a nine-game win streak, defeating Sterling in the subdistrict final. The Wolves were 3-12 at one point but went 5-2 down the stretch while winning their subdistrict.

D2-2, at West Holt

Humphrey St. Francis (22-3) vs. Cody-Kilgore (16-7), 5 p.m.:The second-ranked Flyers finished as the D-2 runners-up last season, losing to Sacred Heart in the final. The unranked Cowboys are seeking their first trip to state.

D2-3, at Hershey

BDS (20-4) vs. Sioux County (18-5), 3 p.m.: The fourth-ranked Eagles are riding an 11-game win streak, including a subdistrict final victory over Exeter-Milligan. The Warriors saw their nine-game win streak snapped by Cody-Kilgore in subdistricts.

D2-4, at St. Paul

CWC (20-4) vs. Kenesaw (13-8), 7 p.m.: The Renegades have won 18 of their last 19, losing only to defending D-1 champion North Central. The Blue Devils are seeking their fifth trip to state and second in four years.

D2-5, at Hampton

Sterling (20-5) vs. Loomis (16-6), 7 p.m.: The third-ranked Jets, seeking their first trip to state since 2014, lost to Sacred Heart in a subdistrict final. The Wolves are seeking their eight state tourney berth but first since 2005.

D2-6, at North Platte

Mullen (20-3) vs. Maywood/Hayes Center (20-5), 8 p.m.: The teams played back on Dec. 18 with the Broncos prevailing 48-35. Mullen is seeking its third trip to state while the co-op of Maywood/Hayes Center is seeking its first.

D2-7, at Twin River

No. 7 Exeter-Milligan (19-5) vs. Ewing (18-5), 7 p.m.: The Timberwolves are aiming for their ninth trip to state and third in a row. The Tigers have won three state titles in five trips to state.

D2-8, at Ord

South Platte (19-1) vs. Wynot (18-6), 6:30 p.m.: An all-blue final. The Blue Knights regrouped after suffering their only loss, a 51-18 setback against Maywood/Hayes Center on Feb. 5.The Blue Devils have won six state titles since 2005.
