The annual West Nebraska All Star volleyball and football games will take place Saturday in Scottsbluff. The 34th annual volleyball game will be played at the West Nebraska Community College “Cougar Palace” Saturday afternoon. Players reported Wednesday for 3 days of practice leading up to the contest. The East All Stars will be coached this year by Pat Hoblyn of Ansley-Litchfield with Neleigh Hall of Cozad assisting and will feature several area athletes. It will be the 40th year for the West Nebraska All Star Football Game which will take place Saturday night at Bearcat Stadium. Several area athletes will help represent the East squad this year including : Cameron Downey of Anselmo-Merna, Noah Gugelman and Patrick Hudson of Gothenburg, Alex Horky and Hunter Kraus of Twin Loup, Kevin Linn of Broken Bow, Jack Rush and Blake Schwarz of South Loup and Tell Spies of Mullen. Nolan Marten of Sandhills-Thedford will suit up for the West squad. The East team will be coached by Craig Haake of Gothenburg with Justin Dowdy (Gothenburg), Scott Porter (Cambridge), Denis Reese (Loomis), and Andy Schwarz of South Loup serving as assistants.
