Track and Field Athletes Attempt to Qualify for State in Class D Districts Today

Area athletes will attempt to qualify for the state track and field championships as they compete in Class D district competition today. The Class D6 District Meet will take place at Mark Russell Field in Broken Bow. Area teams competing include Anselmo-Merna, Ansley/Litchfield, SEM, and Twin Loup. Joining them will be Central Valley, Elba, Elm Creek, Heartland Lutheran, Overton, Pleasanton, Shelton, and Spalding Academy. Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will provide updates of results from the meet. The reports will air on KBBN 95.3 FM throughout the day. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10am with running events starting at 12:30.

The Class D8 district meet will take place today in Paxton. Area teams competing include Mullen, Sandhills/Thedford, and Stapleton. Joining them for today’s meet will be Brady, Hitchcock County, Maywood-Hayes Center, McPherson County, Medicine Valley, Paxton, Wallace, and Wauneta-Palisade.
