GRAND ISLAND – Top-ranked Riverside showed why they are the best six-man team in the state.
Junior quarterback Ty Martinsen led Riverside to a 74-6 victory over Heartland Lutheran on Thursday night with a seven-touchdown performance.
The Chargers wasted no time as Martinsen found Riley Swerczek on the first play of scrimmage for a 55-yard score. The pair would connect for two more scores during the contest from 30 and 33 yards. Martinsen also hit Joseph Bloom on a 55-yard strike for his final TD of the game in the fourth quarter. The QB rushed for three scores as well from 55, 12 and 46 yards on a game where he threw for 182 and ran for 175.
Other scores for the Chargers included a 10-yard Tredyn Prososki pass to Trey Carrier, a 52-yard run by Michael Bernt, and a 49-yard scamper by Jeffrey Schmeits.
Daniel Warneke scored the Red Hornet’s lone TD with a 49-yard dash in the fourth quarter.
