To Our Area Athletes and Coaches – Thanks for a Great 2020

As we prepare to enter a new year, we take time to pause and reflect on some of the exciting high school sports moments we were able to cover this past fall sports season on Central Nebraska’s Sports Source.  Perhaps the most exciting thing that happened in 2020 was that we had a fall sports season.  While the atmosphere at times was different due to COVID restrictions, the competition was at a high level throughout our coverage area.

It was a great fall sports season for Broken Bow athletics as the girls golf team won the Class C state championship, the Broken Bow volleyball team qualified for the state tournament for the second year in a row and the football team won 4 of its last 5 games in Carlie Wells’ first year as head coach.

The 2020 MNAC volleyball tournament was played without fans.  While the atmosphere was not what we were used to the competition was with both semifinals going 5 sets and Mullen holding off Twin Loup in the fourth set of the championship match to win the tournament title.

What a season for the Sandhills/Thedford Knights football team.  S/T rolled through the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record and advanced through the playoffs to play BDS for the Class D2 state championship finishing as the state runner-up.

Those are just some of the many moments that made 2020 such a great year for area athletics.  KCNI/KBBN says thank you to all of the area athletes and coaches and we look forward to covering the exciting moments that await us in 2021.
