The Nebraska Coaches Association Cancels All Star Games

On the same day it released its boys basketball rosters, the Nebraska Coaches Association has officially canceled its annual All-Star Games that were scheduled to be played in late July.  The all star games feature outstanding graduating senior athletes in boys and girls basketball, volleyball, and softball.

The NCA gave the following statement via social media today (4/28).

“With great sadness, but with the intention of protecting student-athletes, coaches, family members and the communities they live & work in, the @NebraskaCoach 2020 All-Star games will not be played in July. To the student-athletes: You will forever be a Nebraska All-Star!”

Broken Bow girls basketball coach Kelly Cooksley was chosen to be one of the head coaches for the girls all star basketball game this summer while Jessie Sallach of South Loup was selected to compete in the all star basketball event.  Broken Bow’s Majesta Valasek was among those who were chosen to play in the all star volleyball match.

The Nebraska Coaches Association in conjunction with the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, also announced the postponement of the NHSACA/NCA 2020 convention and clinic hosted in Lincoln, NE July 19-23 to July 26-29, 2021.
