The Broken Bow American Legion baseball teams traveled to Lexington Thursday night for a Juniors and Seniors doubleheader with Broken Bow coming away with a sweep.
After being no-hit in their last performance against Ogallala, the Bow Juniors were red hot at the plate against Lex. Bow scored 17 runs (14 in the first two innings) on 11 hits en route to a 17-1 victory in four innings. Kaden McKean was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, Carter Johnson was 2 for 2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, and Sam Loy was 2 for 3 also with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Austin Harvey, Tyler Thomas, and Sam Loy gave solid performances on the mound holding Lexington to just one run on one hit. The Juniors are now 4-4 on the season.
The Broken Bow Seniors completed the sweep by holding off a late Lexington rally to collect their third win of the season. Bow scored a run in the first then scored 5 in the fourth to build a 6-0 lead. Lex would fight back though scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth and would score 3 more in the bottom of the 7th but were not able to get the tying run across as Bow held on for the one run victory. Blake Denson had a big night at the plate going 3 for 4 with 3 doubles. Sam Peterson was the leading RBI guy for Bow going 2 for 4 and driving in 3.
The Bow Juniors are scheduled to compete Saturday at the Holdrege tournament.
