SWC Wrestling Tournament Scheduled for Saturday – Coverage on Central Nebraska’s Sports Source

The Southwest Conference wrestling championships will take place Saturday at Valentine High School. Valentine is the defending tournament team champion. Broken Bow was runner-up last year and won back to back conference team titles in 2018 and 2019. The tournament will feature a handful of athletes who are ranked in the top three of their respective weight class and division by NEwrestle.com The 126 lb. weight class features two wrestlers in the top three of their class as Broken Bow’s Cyrus Wells is #3 in Class B and Chris Williams of Valentine is the top ranked wrestler in Class C. The 152 lb. weight class also features two highly ranked wrestlers with Cameron Zink of Ogallala ranked #2 and Isaac White of Cozad #3 in Class B. Broken Bow’s Lathan Duda is top ranked at 195 lbs. in Class B and Alec Langan of McCook is listed as Class B’s #1 at 220 lbs.

It’s a busy end to the week for the Broken Bow wrestling team as the Indians will wrestle Ord in a dual on Thursday, attend the UNK duals on Friday, then travel to Valentine for Southwest Conference on Saturday. Coach Ed Schaaf told KCNI/KBBN Sports it will be a good test for his team.

 

Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will present coverage of this year’s SWC tournament as we focus on wrestlers from Broken Bow, Cozad, and Gothenburg.  Matches will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  A special live video stream of the matches, accompanied by the radio call, will be available on the following media platforms : KCNI/KBBN You Tube page, Sandhills Express facebook page, and on Twitter (@KBBNsports).  Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:30 am.
