The high school volleyball postseason begins today with the start of sub district tournaments. Broken Bow will begin play today at the C1-10 sub district at Kearney Catholic High School. The sub district includes four teams that have 20 plus wins. Broken Bow is the #2 seed and will face #3 seed Gothenburg. Both teams have had outstanding seasons as Broken Bow enters at 25-6 and Gothenburg is 25-7. The two met early in the season with Broken Bow winning a 5 set thriller. The match is scheduled for 6:15 and will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. The tournament will begin with Minden facing Cozad at 5 p.m. The winner will then play top seed Kearney Catholic at 7:30.
Anselmo-Merna will host the D2-7 sub district tournament. The tournament begins with Elba vs Palmer at 4:30 followed by Ansley/Litchfield vs Heartland Lutheran at 6. The Elba / Palmer winner will then face the top seed Anselmo-Merna at 7:30. The sub district final will be played on Tuesday. All AM and Ansley/Litchfield matches will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.
In other area sub district action today,
Mullen is the #2 seed and Sandhills/Thedford the #4 seed at the D2-10 sub district at Arthur. S/T will play Hyannis with the winner to play top seed Arthur County. Mullen will play Cody-Kilgore.
South Loup is the #2 seed at the C2-10 sub at Amherst. South Loup will play Southern Valley with the winner advancing to play the winner of Amherst vs Hi-Line.
Burwell is the top seed and will host the C2-9 sub district tournament. Burwell will face Arcadia/Loup City. The winner will advance to play the winner of West Holt vs North Central.
SEM is the #2 seed at the D1-11 sub district in Overton. SEM will play North Platte St. Pat’s tonight. Sandhills Valley will be the #4 seed at the D1-11 sub and will play Maxwell with the winner advancing to play the top seed Overton. Today’s winners will meet on Tuesday for the sub district title.
