State Wrestling Tournament Class B – Broken Bow Sends Three to the Semifinals

The Broken Bow wrestling team sends three to the semifinals of the Class B state championships which will take place on Saturday morning. Cyrus Wells advanced to the semis at 126 lbs. Wells defeated Ashton Munsell of Wayne by fall and then defeated Brock Bolling of Pierce by a 3-2 decision. Wells will wrestle Paul Ruff of Gering in the semifinal round. Lathan Duda improved his overall record to 49-0 and advanced to the semis at 195 lbs. Duda pinned Brock Ostdiek of Beatrice in the opening round and won by fall over Chase Cotton of York in the quarters. Duda will wrestle Brekyn Papineau of Aurora in the semifinals. Sawyer Bumgarner advanced to the semifinals at 285 lbs. Bumgarner won in the opening round by a 3-0 decision over Kadence Velde of York and won by fall over Jason Uden of Crete in the quarterfinals. Bumgarner will wrestle David Hernandez of Ralston in the semifinal round. Connor Wells advanced through the consolation bracket Friday. Wells won his opening match over Hayden Johnston of Columbus Lakeview by a 10-2 major decision but then lost to Trevor Kluck of Aurora in the quarterfinals. Wells then won his consolation match against Cameron Detwiler of Mount Michael by a 1-0 decision. Wells will wrestle Asa Johnson of Alliance in the 3rd round of consolations Saturday morning.

Broken Bow had five other wrestlers go 1-2 on Thursday at the state tournament. Chauncey Watson (106) ends his season at 34-14. Wilson Cucul Tzin (113) ends the season at 37-19 overall. Trey Garey (138) finishes with an overall mark of 30-13. Max Denson (170) finishes at 35-21 and Keifer Anderson (220) concludes the year at 40-12.

Cozad advanced two wrestlers to Saturday.  Dreu White will wrestle in the semifinals at 132 lbs. and Kaleb Pohl will wrestle in the 3rd round consolations at 182 lbs.  Daven Naylor of Lexington advanced out to the semifinal round at 113 lbs.
