State Volleyball Tournament – Broken Bow Advances to Semifinals

The Broken Bow Lady Indians volleyball team advanced to the C1 state semifinals with a 3 sets to 1 win over Wayne in the opening round of the state tournament on Thursday. Wayne jumped out early winning the first set 25-22 but Broken Bow regrouped and responded in the next 3 sets. After winning the second set 25-20, the Lady Indians dominated set #3. Wayne scored the first 2 points of the third set but then Bow went on a 10-0 run to take control and would win the set 25-8. Broken Bow then closed it out in the fourth 25-18. Majesta Valasek finished with 24 kills to lead the Lady Indians attack while Kya Scott and Lindsay Schauda each had 11 and Kailyn Scott directed the attack with 33 set assists as the Lady Indians improved to 33-2 for the season. Next up for Broken Bow is undefeated and top seeded St. Paul. The Wildcats defeated Battle Creek in the opening round (25-17, 25-23, 25-17). St. Paul is 34-0 and have not dropped a set so far this season. The semifinal match will be played at Lincoln’s Pinnacle Bank Arena at 1pm. Arcadia/Loup City saw its season come to an end in the opening round of the C2 tournament. The Lady Rebels went up against the top seed Hastings St. Cecilia and fell in straight sets 25-10, 25-12, 25-20. Calli Bauer had 9 kills to lead the Rebels attack as ALC ends the season at 26-7 overall.
