State Volleyball – Championship Saturday Recap

The 2020 high school volleyball season came to its end Saturday with the conclusion of the NSAA state volleyball championships. Pleasanton claimed its first state volleyball title since 1976 by claiming the D1 championship. The Lady Bulldogs completed an undefeated season (33-0) with a straight set win over Archbishop Bergan in the state championship match 25-12, 25-17, 25-20. Katelyn Lindner had 22 kills and Isabelle Paitz finished with 18 to lead the Pleasanton attack.

The Class C1 championship match featured a pair of undefeated teams as both St. Paul and Wahoo entered the match with identical 34-0 records. The match did not disappoint as the two battled through a five set thriller with Wahoo coming out on top 3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 20-25, 25-18, 15-12). Mya Larson turned in an amazing performance finishing with 41 kills to lead Wahoo to victory. Josie Jakubowski led St. Paul with 20 kills in the match.

In other championship action, Elkhorn South defeated Papillion LaVista South to win the Class A title 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-20).
Omaha Skutt came from a set down to defeat Norris 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-21) to win the Class B championship. Lutheran High Northeast was down 0-2 to Norfolk Catholic in the C2 title match but came back to win the final three sets 25-19, 25-18, 15-4. The top two seeds met for the Class D2 championship with top seed Diller-Odell edging Chambers Wheeler Central 3-2 (26-24, 25-20, 14-25, 22-25, 16-14)
