State Cross Country Championships – Results

The State Cross Country Championships took place Friday at the Kearney Country Club. Broken Bow freshman Makinley Tobey turned in an impressive performance for her first time competing at the state meet. Tobey placed just outside the top 15 for a state medal as she placed 17th overall in a time of 20:42. Broken Bow placed 12th overall in the Class C boys team standings. Bow was led by Daine Wardyn who finished 29th in a time of 17:38.6. Noah Osmond was 45th (18:02.3), Brock Oeltjen was 56th (18:14.2), Trey Hurlburt was 63rd (18:25.2), Casey Faulkenberry finished with a time of 18:59.1 and Ethan Wenquist finished in a time of 19:15.2

In Class D, Mullen claimed medals in both the boys and girls races. Callie Coble of Mullen placed 5th overall in the Class D girls competition in a time of 20:06.1. Trevor Kuncl of Mullen was 8th in the Class D boys competition in a time of 17:24. Other top 50 finishers in Class D from the area included Landyn Cole of South Loup who placed 35th in Class D girls in a time of 21:40 and Josey French of Mullen was 45th in a time of 21:58. In Class D boys, Colin Rooney of Sandhills Valley was 23rd (18:06) and Rylin Johns of Sandhills Valley was 40th (18:27). Sandhills Valley placed 7th in the Class D boys team standings and Mullen placed 11th.
