South Loup’s Colbi Smith Quailifies for State Golf

Colbi Smith of South Loup qualified for the Class C boys state golf championships by placing in the top ten of the Class C-4 district golf meet at Indianhead golf course in Grand Island on Tuesday. Smith, a freshman, shot a round of 78 which was good for fifth overall. The low round of the tournament was turned in by Eli Fox of Grand Island Central Cathoic who shot a 71. The top ten individuals and top three teams qualified for the state meet next week. GICC won the team title with a 303, Kearney Catholic was second with a 333, and Doniphan Trumbull was third with a 334. South Loup finished fifth in the team standings with a 385. The Class C boys state golf championships will take place Tuesday (5/21) and Wednesday (5/22) at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney.
