South Loup Wins Thriller over AM to claim MNAC Boys Tournament Title

The South Loup boys basketball team claimed their second straight MNAC tournament championship Saturday with a thrilling 1 point victory over Anselmo-Merna in the boys championship game. The two teams fought back and forth all night in a packed arena at North Platte Community College. With Anselmo-Merna leading 62-60 with less than ten seconds to play, South Loup’s Jace Connell rose up from the top of the key and hit a game winning 3 with 2 seconds left in the game to give the Bobcats a 63-62 win. Connell finished with 15 points but the game winner was his only made shot of the second half. Kaden Dockweiler was South Loup’s leading scorer with a game high 26. The AM Coyotes were led by Seth Miller’s 22 and Destry Miller also finished in double figures with 16 points.

In the boys consolation game Mullen defeated Sandhills/Thedford 58-43.
